More security for better document protection

Digitisation of the document process has brought many blessings, and quite a few security worries too. The threat of theft, network abuse, outside penetration, virus or worm attacks and legal liabilities resulting from security breaches is greater than ever.

Confidentiality assured

Accessibility of documents is key, but so is security. More and more printers have hard disks containing numerous documents that can be accessed via the network. All Océ’s office printing systems are ‘Common Criteria Certified’ or on par with this standard. Testing is executed by independent safety auditors, and  are amongst the most secure in the industry. Once document have been deleted, ‘hacking’ the controller of the printer will be useless. No wonder the White House and the European Commission are among our customers.

Easy but controlled access

Everyone using your output infrastructure can be indentified by means of an open standards set of rules for control and access. Documents can be sent to the printer with special PIN codes, which are impossible to print or access by anyone else. Scans for email are also send secured through encrypted PDF.
So it’s not just the right printer for the the right job, but also for ‘your eyes only’. Once document have been deleted, ‘hacking’ the controller of the printer will be useless

Secure document storage

Taking care of removable hard disks and automatic deletion of douments (known as e-shredding) can be complicated. But it also depends on the type of documents that are potentially threatened. The security measures have to fit the importance of the document and the needs of your organisation. So we support easy security management levels per device, which are also adjustable.

Common Criteria

Common Criteria for information technology security evaluation is an internationally recognised standard to meet the security testing needs fo IT manufacturers and users. It is an alignment and development of a number of source criteria: the existing European, US and Canadian criteria (ITSEC, TCSEC and CTCPEC respectively). Products will be evaluated and certified by competent and independent licensed laboratories. Certificates are recognized by all the signatories of the Common Criteria Recognition Agreement (http://www.commoncriteriaportal.org).
